2013年10月，成都市考古队在距离天府广场“石兽”不远的地方，开始了后子门成都体育中心遗址的发掘。今年5月，考古发掘工作基本结束，5月26日即将公布发掘结果。5月22日，成都考古队工作人员透露，该处发掘了一处唐代院落遗址，还确定了一处堆积最深7米的水池。
