　　唐玄宗天宝四年（745年），陕西省西安市东郊苏思勖墓甬道东壁出土，高76厘米，宽122厘米。东、西壁对称地分别安排了一组两人抬箱图。此图位于东壁，两位男子所穿的两侧下摆开叉直至腰处的衣服是圆领缺胯袍。缺胯袍最早属北齐、北周鲜卑人的服饰，是由旧式鲜卑外衣参照西域胡服改革而成。

　　从现有的考古学材料来看，较早具有数目意义的发现可能是“山顶洞人”的骨管。在山顶洞遗址中出土了4个带有磨刻记号的骨管，其上的记号为横向磨制，形状多为圆点，另外有两个长圆形。如图，骨管A，相对的两个侧面分别有一个圆点和两个圆点，共三个；骨管D，只有一个长条形符号。从这些符号的排列方式，可以推测“山顶洞人”已经有了一些数目的观念。
