日前，记者从内蒙古文物考古研究所获悉，考古人员日前在和林格尔盛乐古城南城和北城处首次发现了58座汉代时期的瓮棺葬，扩大了瓮棺葬的分布范围。
盛乐古城遗址分为西城、南城、中城、北城四大部分。从目前对盛乐古城遗址考古发掘的情况来看，盛乐古城周边墓葬及出土的器物自春秋晚期至辽金元，没有缺环，且自成序列，与盛乐古城的历史沿革相一致。
