我国科学家1988年在藏北高原色林错湖东南岸70米高的古湖滨阶地发现的一批石器，最近被证实其年代可能为距今4万～3万年，这为藏族人可能是世界上最早征服高原的人类提供了新的证据。同时，这批石器具有鲜明的欧洲旧石器中期石器的风格，其出现可能与当时欧亚大陆的早期人类迁徙浪潮有关。上述研究论文发表在《科学通报》2007年第13期上(www.SciChina.com)。
